David Galstyan
David Galstyan generally works in black and white, he captures blur of the models motion, he has also clearly laid out each indistinct photography. This photographer, I have chosen in relation to my theme because he shows the extremes you can blur a photograph and the emotion you can create from motion blur photography. Galstyan's work inspired me because of the bizarreness of each individual photograph that he has captured.
This is one of my favourites that David Galstyan has done. In this photograph he is focusing on the models face and the movement of her face. It is done in a soft black and white, with a low contrast, colouring which makes the image look more ghostly. In this photograph, the model is expressionless however the effect of the blur and the colouring makes the image subtly sad. This photograph, alone, has inspired me because of the of the way the photographer has captured the movement and the facial expression.

This photograph of David Galstyan's is portrayed in such a way that it looks as if her hair has been painted. Once again it is a soft black and white photograph. This image has more emotion than the one above - it is more sad than the other one. This photograph has inspired me because it is very much paint like and very abstract.

Antonio Palmerini
Antonio Palmerini's photography generally consists of black and white photography, however they are sometimes very subtle colours which look slightly black and white. He turns his photographs into ghosts and imagination like images. To get this series of photographs, he used double exposure, long exposure and high contrast in the film processing. He also continues to edit them by drawing the effects such as dreams and/or subconscious impulses by drawing and painting them. His photography work inspired me because of the fine detail he goes through to add to his photographs and the effect of the ghostliness he creates by simply using a camera and art techniques.
Antonio Palmerini's photograph is down with a soft lighting and has been further painted over and exposed to create the ghostly look which he creates in his photographs. This photograph is done in soft greys and black and white, which creates a more ghostly look and makes the photograph emotional.
This photograph is also done in a soft grey, black and white. In this photograph he has double exposed it in order the get the blur of the models movement.
His photographs has inspired me because of the style of photograph he does and the effect he creates. |
Yell Saccani
Yell Saccani doesn't generally have a colour pattern however each of her photographs are generally softened. She models in her own photographu Her work is extremely dramatic and has the look of a painting. She says that her photography is 'A recording of her feelings.' Her photographs seem to look like the all have a wave in them like wave of emotion imbedded in each photography. Saccani's work has inspired me through my own work because of the depth of emotion she has captured simply through a camera and the individuality of each photograph is also inspiring because it shows how different each photograph can be even if its from the same series.
Yell Saccani combines digital manipulation with traditional photography to get the emotion that she wants in her photographs. This photograph of Yell Saccani shows clearly that there is emotion in this image and has ispired me in a way that I could show different emotions in each series of photographs through a similar way that Yell Saccani has done. He photography is distorted wih softness and gives off a painting like finish.
|
In this photograph there is a clear anger or frustration emotion emerged in this photograph through what is in focus and what is not. It has once again got a painting like finish which gives off an old fashioned kind of look. This photograph has inspired me through my own wok through the set up of this photograph and almost the story that it tells. Yell Saccani's photography has selected the parts that we want to see and how she wants us to see them.

Photoshoot 1 - Experimentation stage.
This photoshoot, my intention was to experiment with different shutter speeds and different figures, standing or moving in different ways. This was to explore the different ways that I can create my own style of indistinct photography. This shoot was successful because I managed to get a different set of styles of similar photographs, however I have quite got the idea of how I want the photograph to look.
The shutter speed on this photograph 1.5". Even though this photograph was accidental, it is actually one of the better ones out of my photoshoot because I have captured the facial features and the movement of the face. Therefore I decided the enhance it and photoshop it to bring out the facial features more and to get the style I want.
|
This is my photoshopped version of the previous photo. I have photoshopped it to bring out more of the facial feature due to the photograph being fairly dark and I also wanted to create a more grainy look along with it being slightly desaturated.

Photoshoot 2
In this photoshoot, I attempted to replicate the previous photographs that i have edited. It was successful due to the fact that I had got the right shutter speed and my knew the kind of photograph I was aiming for, however in my next photoshoot I am aiming to get a different background but still have the same effect.
Photoshoot 3
In this photoshoot my intention was to have a different background, preferably a dark background or outside, and have the same sort of style photograph as in my previous photoshoots. This shoot was successful because once again I played around with different speeds of my models movement on the same shutter speed - 1.5". However I feel that my model is standing kind of emotionless and I want emotion to be portrayed in my photographs. In my next shoot I am going to try and get my models body either stiller or get her to have more expression in my movement.

Photoshoot 4
In this photoshoot, I took it on a white background which was better because I was able to get more of the movement in captured. This was successful because I felt my model had more emotion portrayed in my photographs and the background worked better however I need to have a better direction of how I want my model to move and look. In my next photoshoot I am going to give my model an aim of how I would like her too look.

Photoshoot 5
This photoshoot was successful because towards the end my model started to show more emotion overall instead of just her face. The purpose of this shoot was to portray emotion across in my mood and it was successful. However in my next photoshoot, I am going to have another model to show to contrast between the two models emotions.
Photoshoot edits
In this photoshop edit, my intention was to blend more than one photograph together to show emotion more. I do think it was successful however my model could be more emotional.

Photoshoot 6
In this photoshoot my intention was to get two contrasting emotions shown across in both my models. It was fairly successful due to the fact that the both showed emotion in two different ways.
Photoshop edit.
With these photoshoot edits, my initial idea was to blend two different emotions shown in one photography. However I dont think it would work because of the different people. Therefore in my next shoot I am going to use the same person in one photograph but have more than one model.
Photoshoot 7
In this photoshoot, I wanted my model to show more emotion in order to photoshop two different photos together, with two different emotions
Photoshoot 8
In this photoshoot my intention was to once again have emotion shown across in my model but I also wanted to get a feel of what it would look like with a subtle background. However my model was wearing a distracting t-shirt which was my fault for not asking her to change and though the background is subtle I dont think it works well with this style of photography.
Photoshoot 9
This is my final photoshoot, I asked my model to wear a subtle sleeveless, or small sleeved plain t-shirt/vest top which I think works well. Also I put dark make up on my model to make the photograph seem more emotional as the emotion I am trying to portray is amongst anger and sadness. This photoshoot was successful because I was able to get these emotions shown in different ways and there was nothing distracting in my photographs.
