Decay 2.0
This is a sub-unit off my original decay unit. I have done this because whilst I was in Norfolk, I stumbled across an old RAF air base and the old houses that pilots would of lived in. I researched about this place and discovered that it was built in 1942 as a second satellite airfield of RAF West Raynham during World War 2. It became inactive during 1990 after it was used for the cold war, then was sold off to 'The Welbeck East Group' and a group of one storey houses - bungalows - were built and renamed 'Wicken Green Village'. Whilst I was there, I was only able to capture photographs of the old buildings that were once home to visiting pilots and pilots who worked on site, as the actual runway has now been completely fenced off and unable to gain access to it. Overall there are 6 rectangle blocks which are all emptied and covered in graffiti, every single window in the building has been broken and the paint around the buildings has started to peel given the buildings a good texture. The whole site is fairly large and contains multiple buildings such as an old nursery and I am planning on returning to RAF Sculthorpe in attempt to get more photographs and explore the site even more as it is filled with interest and ivy ridden buildings. I got a satellite image of the area off google to show to the extent of the area that I was in, the circled area it the part of the old Airbase that you can get access to however the rest of it, you cannot go in there as it is all fenced off.
This also follows on from the hidden identities idea as the buildings are all decayed and abandoned but you can also tell stories from them but you are unable to know the true state of these buildings nor what actually occurred in this area.

Photoshoot 1
This was the first day I went to Norfolk, I spent two days up there an managed to get four photoshoots spread out over the two days. On the first day the weather was bright but fairly dull, however this wasn't a problem as the buildings were still lit and the abandonment and decay was still strongly visable. I went around 10am on the first day I was there and was walking for about an hour. I got some landscape photographs of the buildings and all of the broken windows.
Top 2
In this photo shoot, this is one of my top photographs that I had taken. This is due to the composition of the photograph and how there is depth shown through the use of focusing. Whilst I took this on a fairly grey day, there was still plenty of light to show the different colours of the decay and abandonment of the building and the peeling paint.

This is another one of my top photographs that I had taken whilst visiting the abandoned air base in Norfolk. Whilst the colour of the sky limits the amount of depth that could be shown in the photo, the angle that I took the photo, shows that the building has corners and different structures. The colouring of the photograph is complimentary to the abandonment as you are drawn to focus on the decay of the building.

Photoshoot 2
As The day went on the weather showed some improvement as I went between 2pm and 4pm however it was starting to become dusky whilst I was walking around. The buildings where still lit and still visible, however there were some reflections from the sky giving the buildings different tones that I wasn't able to gain through my morning photoshoot.

Photoshoot 4
In this photo-shoot, I went around the old air base about 2pm and the weather had become more dull again. I took photographs through the broken windows of some of the buildings to get photographs of the long hall ways that there were. I also discovered this place which looked like an old garage and some toilets, it was all covered in graffiti with more broken windows.
Top 3
In this photograph, it is much like another one of my chosen top 3, however it is taken in portrait to focus on the hall way and the ending of which someone has graffitied a word at the very end of it. This is one of my top photographs because you can still see the wiring next to the door frame and you can see the shadows of all the door ways stretching out across the hall way. In photoshop, I will desaturate this and sharpen the imagine so you can see all of the decay, I will also edit the contrast and brightness to give the photograph as much depth as possible.

This was one my top photographs that I took, as it is fairly unusual. Also the whole place was over grown and covered in graffiti and this gave the place more of an abandoned feel to it. I assume it was once a garage for cars of the pilots and people who used to work on the military base. For this photograph, I will desaturate the image and then edit the contrast through the HDR Toning, and also edit the amount of detail that is shown.

This is my favourite photograph, out of all the photoshoots I had done. This is because you have the full width of the room giving the feel of sizing and how it would of been lived in. Also it has the length of the corridor with the shadows shown from each of the individual rooms along the corridor. In photoshop I will do the same thing that I have done to the above photograph to get the detail throughout and the high contrast.
